Maverick Release Events
What is a Release Party?
- A time to celebrate another great release of Ubuntu!
- An opportunity to learn about Ubuntu and open source if you're new to it, or to bring a friend who is
- A chance to meet new people with enthusiasm for open source
- A time to learn about new features and changes in the fresh Ubuntu release
- A social time to hange out with other users
- A chance to share tips & tricks
- An opportunity to install or upgrade Ubuntu on your computer
- A time to have fun!
Why attend an installfest rather just doing an
install/upgrade on your own?
- All the necessary software is pre-downloaded, or otherwise
available on a faster connection.
- You can learn about useful tips or software for Ubuntu from
others
- You can meet up and socialize with others in the down time as the installation/upgrade is underway
- You're able to get help with any issues that may arise
How does an installfest work?
- Bring in your device that you want upgraded or to have Ubuntu installed on
-
- If you bring a desktop, it would be advisable to bring a monitor, keyboard, and mouse; some installfests may have them provided for you.
- Bring a typical Ethernet cable (8P8C) if you don't have a wireless card (or if wireless isn't provided).
- Ask for information about whether to upgrade from a specific mirror or to use the appropriate disc for the install/upgrade.
- Feel free to talk with others or look through any materials (like magazines) provided.
